Senior Packaging Designer
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (On-Site)
Employment Type: Contract
Compensation: $28–$36/hr
About the Opportunity
TalentoHC has partnered with a leading global toy and consumer products company seeking a Senior Packaging Designer to join its packaging team on a contract basis at its Fort Lauderdale, FL headquarters. This is a production-focused packaging role - not primarily a conceptual design position. The company works with a large portfolio of licensed properties and established brands. Branding, style guides, and packaging direction are largely set. What they need is an experienced packaging professional who can take those approved assets and execute them accurately at high volume: rolling out artwork across large SKU assortments, managing files through licensor approval cycles, and releasing final production-ready artwork to the factory. The right candidate has deep hands-on packaging experience- mechanicals, dielines, prepress, licensor submissions, proofs, and FEP reviews - and is comfortable managing a high volume of SKUs simultaneously with strong attention to accuracy and organization. Direct toy packaging experience is a significant advantage.

Direct toy packaging experience is a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute packaging artwork across a high-volume SKU assortment - applying approved style guides, brand assets, character art, legal copy, and product-specific information accurately across each individual file.
- Create and maintain dielines, mechanicals, and production-ready artwork files with full attention to bleeds, Pantone/spot color specs, print specifications, and factory requirements.
- Manage the licensor submission and approval process: prepare artwork for submission, incorporate licensor feedback, track revision cycles, and advance files through to final approval.
- Maintain rigorous file and asset management across the assortment - tracking version control, approval status, revision history, and which files have been released to the factory.
- Coordinate packaging artwork across a range of structural formats including blister cards, bucket cards, hangtags, and other standard toy packaging structures.
- Prepare and release final production-ready artwork to overseas factories and manufacturing partners.
- Review press proofs and FEP samples against approved artwork to verify color accuracy, copy, logo placement, dielines, image quality, and overall print quality prior to mass production.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product Development, Design, Licensing, Marketing, and Sourcing teams to keep packaging on track.
- Support communication with licensors and vendors on packaging submissions, revisions, and approvals.
- Develop and maintain mockups for trade shows, retailer meetings, and internal presentations as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of packaging design experience with a strong emphasis on production artwork and high-volume SKU execution - not primarily conceptual or brand identity work.
- Demonstrated experience managing packaging artwork from design through licensor approval, final mechanicals, and factory release.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign); strong working knowledge of mechanicals, dielines, prepress, and print production.
- Experience working within licensed properties and established style guides - understanding what can and cannot be changed, and managing assets accordingly.
- Proven ability to manage a large volume of SKUs simultaneously while maintaining accuracy across each individual file.
- Strong file and asset management discipline - able to track version control, approval status, and production release across hundreds of active files.
- Experience reviewing press proofs and FEP samples and identifying discrepancies before mass production.
- Familiarity with toy packaging structures (blister cards, bucket cards, hangtags, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience communicating with overseas factories, print vendors, and sourcing partners is a plus.
- Direct toy packaging experience - especially across licensed entertainment properties - is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a related field.
