TalentoHC has been retained by a growing airline that is evolving its Flight Operations capabilities to meet the demands of a scaling operation throughout the Americas. The Chief Pilot is a senior pilot within the airline who oversees all aspects of flight operations, including pilot training, scheduling, aircraft maintenance, and ensuring compliance with regulations, essentially acting as the leader and manager of the pilot crew, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency across the flight department. 

Responsibilities:

Pilot Supervision:
Managing and evaluating the performance of all pilots within the department, including mentoring, discipline, and performance reviews. 

Flight Operations Oversight:
Ensuring all flights are conducted safely and in compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures. 

Training and Standardization:
Developing and overseeing pilot training programs, including initial training, recurrent training, and type-rating courses. 

Scheduling and Logistics:
Coordinating pilot schedules, aircraft assignments, and flight planning to optimize operational efficiency. 

Aircraft Maintenance Coordination:
Collaborating with maintenance teams to ensure aircraft are airworthy and properly maintained. 

Incident Investigation:
Leading investigations into any aviation incidents or near misses, taking corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. 

Regulatory Compliance:
Staying updated on all applicable aviation regulations and ensuring the department adheres to them. 

Reporting to Management:
Providing regular updates to senior management on flight operations, safety concerns, and performance metrics. 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Extensive Flying Experience: Typically requires a significant number of hours as a commercial pilot with experience in the type of aircraft operated by the company. 
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate: A valid ATP license is usually required for airline operations. 
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of pilots, making sound decisions under pressure. 
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication with pilots, management, and other departments is crucial. 
  • Knowledge of Aviation Regulations: Deep understanding of FAA regulations and operating procedures. 
  • Management Skills: Experience in managing operational aspects like scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
