THE POSITION

Baldor Specialty Foods has a long legacy of quality, consistency, and service. The company was founded by the former Owner and Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Murphy. Kevin’s son, TJ Murphy, has been the Owner and Chief Executive Office since 2013. Under the leadership of TJ in the last seven years, Baldor has achieved consistent double-digit growth in addition to geographic, category, product, and channel expansion.

As Baldor moves into a new chapter of growth the Controller will be the leader in all financial reporting and will assist in decision making on financial matters. The Controller will ensure that the company financial and budgetary systems are supporting the company strategy and expenses are in alignment with revenue goals. Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting to support the strategy are of utmost importance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning, coordinating, and directing all company accounting operations and processes.

• Managing the consolidation and organization of all company financial data required for accurate reporting of operational results.

• Compiling and preparing external and internal financial reports and statements for the company.

• Coordinating auditing activities and ensuring all documentation is accurately represented for auditing.

• Analyzing accounting operations, making financial recommendations for improvement, and implementing new strategies and processes.

• Developing annual cost savings initiatives that are aligned with the corporate strategic plan.

• Using information about company expenses, spending, revenue, and profitability to make important financial decisions for the company.

• Planning company budgets and ensuring business expenses are aligned with the company’s revenue goals.

• Creating and monitoring company budgets including documenting all spending and ensuring operational tasks stay within the budget.

• Preparing forecasts and revisions and advising on relevant changes and impact to full year financial plans.

• Overseeing and managing the regulatory reporting, including tax preparation and compliance.

• Developing, tracking, and assessing business and financial performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Evaluating and monitoring control systems and evaluating the effectiveness of the company’s accounting software and financial database.

• Preparation and review of quarterly bank covenant compliance documentation.

• The Controller will be involved in all company financial matters and will be expected to advise on the financial impact of any new initiatives including real estate and construction questions and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s and either a master’s degree or CPA certification

• Minimum 10+ years of experience preferably with a mix of public and private experience

• High level of engagement in a fast paced, 24/7 environment

• Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

• Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentialities

• Track-record of working as a true leader with the ability to communicate financial matters in an understandable format and make financial recommendations

• Ability to supervise and mentor staff

• Exceptional organization and attention to detail

• Deep knowledge of accounting principles

• Analytical skills, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

• Forward thinker that can develop plans for department needs to go to keep up with company growth
