Director of Compensation 
Talento has partnered with 2 major cruise lines seeking to hire experienced compensation leaders who understand shipboard comp in a hybrid environment that could be based in Miami or Broward. You'll be responsible for both shipboard and shoreside compensation and work with a talented team that oversees developing salary structures, incentive plans, benchmark, and job evaluations. We are seeking a leader who has a strong understanding of the industry in the last 5 years, a sound understanding of compensation principles and practices, and ensures compliance with US and Maritime requirements. 


  • 7+ years in a compensation role with the most of their career in a cruise line with a focus in shipboard compensation 
  • Experience designing, enhancing, and evolving compensation programs to be competitive in the market and attract high quality talent 
  • Proven experience managing projects and programs 
  • Extensive knowledge of compensation practices and theory 
  • Able to partner with executive leadership and serve as an advisor 
  • Advanced technology skills from enterprise HR systems and Excel and PowerPoint experience 
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and modeling skills 


  • Develop and implement comprehensive compensation strategies for shipboard employees, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular market analysis to ensure competitiveness of compensation packages and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting for compensation expenses related to shipboard employees.
  • Manage the administration of compensation programs, including salary structures, bonuses, incentives, and benefits, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and union agreements.
  • Lead the development of policies and procedures related to shipboard compensation, ensuring consistency and fairness across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to HR and management teams on compensation-related matters, including job evaluations, promotions, and salary negotiations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in shipboard compensation, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
