Inventory Accountant
Talento has partnered with a manufacturing organization that's experiencing growth seeking to hire an Inventory Accountant reporting directly to the Controller. This role will be responsible for managing and reconciling inventory balances, performing cost analysis, and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting related to inventory across multiple locations and systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger.
- Perform monthly and quarterly inventory close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze inventory variances including shrinkage, obsolescence, and adjustments.
- Support physical inventory counts and cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with supply chain, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure inventory accuracy and integrity.
- Monitor and report on inventory KPIs, including inventory turnover, days on hand, and valuation trends.
- Assist in standard costing, cost roll-ups, and BOM reviews (if applicable).
- Support internal and external audits by providing detailed documentation and analysis.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation related to inventory accounting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on inventory
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with Sage 500
- High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Bilingual is a strong preference (English/Spanish)
