TalentoHC is partnered with a Travel & Leisure organization seeking a Release Train Engineer focused on integrations across applications & systems within the organization.

Virgin Voyages is seeking a hands-on Release Train Engineer to join the IT team. The Release Train Engineer will plan, scope, budget and manage all aspects of large internal application initiatives as well as cross-effort dependencies and milestones. This person will interface closely with internal stakeholders, developers and would maintain strong vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong customer service orientation, continuous improvement and innovation mindset and can work well with teams and associates at various levels of the organization. This position requires technical background and knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and would have the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • 10+ years of experience in delivering and overseeing IT service organizations.
  • Experience supervising teams of local and off-shore IT development resources.
  • Experience leading a team of delivery/project managers while managing overall program on-time/on-budget delivery. 
  • Strong technical background with ability to be hands-on throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable liaising with remote users and vendors.
  • Comfortable negotiating and influencing program prioritization aligning to organization goals and strategy.
  • Independently motivated with a “team player” mentality
  • Manage a portfolio of IT projects and associated applications with a high degree of complexity.
  • Work with key stakeholders on high visibility projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage program schedule, focusing acutely on solution design, project prioritization, cross project milestones and quality delivery.
  • Deliver project results by facilitating efforts across global business segments and global delivery team.
  • Manage business related programs and projects that relate to major organizational strategies.
  • Drives integrated global teams to deliver business process and technology solutions in support of key internal initiatives by working closely with stakeholders, architects, developers, and vendors.
  • Works within and across different Line of Business to prioritize, plan, and execute the implementation schedule for large initiatives.
  • Identifies, communicates and monitors program prioritization as well as critical cross-project milestones.
  • Manage program deliverables, scope & expectations and coordinates project progress with project managers, delivery managers, sponsors, upper management, and executives.
  • Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management
  • Experience influencing and gaining buy-in from executive sponsors, team members, stakeholders, and peers.
  • Experience performing vendor analysis including but not limited to RFI, RFP, RFQ and contract negotiations.
  • Manages and tracks team velocity, financials, and other KPIs in relation to program and projects.
  • Manage budgets effectively and maintain up-to-date forecast vs actuals for responsible programs and projects.
  • Manage vendor onboarding, PO’s and SOWs for project execution.
  • Interfaces independently with all functional & business areas/groups affected by the program, including senior and/or executive management.
  • Identifies opportunities to adopt innovative processes and technologies.
  • Work closely with functional resource managers to ensure adequate allocation of resources to projects being managed.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project and program team.
  • May perform hands on business analysis activities such as requirement documentation, project planning and execution, testing, training which might result in addressing delivery impediments or solution issues.
  • Develop and track to detailed project plans, including schedules, cost estimates, resource plans, communication plans, risk mitigation plans and issue resolution plans. Able to extrapolate to program level.
  • Conducts lessons learned sessions to ensure that the project team is continuously learning from the past.
  • Make project decisions and recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization, and resource allocation with input from others as needed.
  • Prepare and delivers program report outs to an executive level audience, as necessary.
  • Establish Program/Project management practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.


  • BA/BS or MS degree in computer science or engineering related fields.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of in-depth business experience in managing software related projects from initiation through closure within an IT environment
  • Experience with a variety of IT projects, including applications and operations projects, for a variety of functional areas (e.g. Sales, Professional Services, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Legal and Human Resources)
  • Proficiency in change management methodologies, best practices, tools, and techniques applied in internal initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and cross- functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent experience in SDLC Methodologies, Agile, SCRUM, SDLC / Waterfall, and Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience with PM and Collaboration tools; MS Project, SharePoint Online, Visual Studio Team Foundation Server
  • Detail-oriented, multi-tasking, self-directed, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10 -25% depending on location.
  • Experience managing IT projects in the cruise industry is preferred.
  • PMP/Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred.
