The Senior Accountant (Financial Reporting) supports the preparation, review, and timely delivery of financial reporting activities across a complex, multi-entity organization. This position is responsible for assisting with annual and interim financial statements, reporting packages, accounting analyses, audit support, and ongoing improvements to financial reporting processes.
The role partners closely with accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, legal, and operational teams to ensure financial information is accurate, complete, properly supported, and delivered according to established deadlines. The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, significant financial statement preparation experience, advanced Workiva proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, external audit requirements, and financial statement disclosures and can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assist with the review of annual and interim financial statements and related disclosures for multiple legal entities.
- Prepare financial reporting packages, supporting schedules, account analyses, and other reporting deliverables in accordance with established deadlines.
- Maintain and update financial statements, disclosures, reporting packages, and supporting documentation in Workiva.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance quarterly close checklists, reporting schedules, disclosure controls, and reporting calendars.
- Perform financial statement tie-outs and complete disclosure checklists and supporting documentation to help ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reports.
- Support external audits by preparing requested schedules, coordinating documentation, responding to auditor requests, and assisting with audit inquiries.
- Perform quarterly and annual financial statement fluctuation analyses and prepare explanations for significant variances.
- Research and document accounting and financial reporting matters under U.S. GAAP, GASB, and other applicable accounting frameworks.
- Assist with maintaining accounting policies, financial reporting procedures, and documentation standards.
- Support internal controls over financial reporting, including control documentation and retention of appropriate supporting evidence.
- Partner with accounting, consolidation, FP&A, tax, treasury, legal, and operational teams to obtain information required for financial reporting and audit activities.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, automate manual tasks, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting workflows.
- Participate in special projects, system implementations, acquisitions, financing transactions, and other accounting and finance initiatives as needed.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accountability, and ownership of assigned responsibilities and deliverables.
- Maintain confidentiality and consistently demonstrate professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including public accounting, corporate accounting, financial reporting, or a combination of these areas.
- Public accounting experience with a large or nationally recognized accounting firm strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits.
- Experience working within multi-entity organizations and consolidated financial reporting environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Exposure to GASB, IFRS, statutory reporting, or multinational reporting environments is a plus.
- Advanced Workiva experience required, including financial statement and disclosure preparation, linked data, reporting packages, and workflow management.
- Experience with ERP platforms, consolidation systems, and financial reporting applications preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and financial data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, meet demanding deadlines, and perform effectively during quarterly and annual reporting cycles.
- Ability to work independently while building productive relationships and collaborating effectively across functions and organizational levels.
