Sr. Data Scientist – based in South Florida (Hybrid)
Talento has partnered with a large organization in South Florida on a search for a Senior Data Scientist who will be responsible for developing solutions that improve efficiency and quantify portfolio performance in credit risk, residual risk, collections, and recovery.
This individual should have a comprehensive understanding of consumer lending and the factors that drive performance and profitability. Strong predictive modeling skills and the ability to effectively communicate analytical solutions’ business impact are essential. The ideal candidate will have expertise in advanced statistical modeling techniques and relevant software.
Responsibilities
- Lead advanced analytics projects to develop statistically sound operational, portfolio, behavior, and recovery models that drive actionable results under tight deadlines.
- Quantify and communicate credit and residual loss exposure for retail and lease portfolios, incorporating economic scenarios and seasonal trends for budgeting and reserve purposes, including CECL models and forecasts.
- Develop and implement residual value models to determine accurate residual values for leased vehicles.
- Create operational models to quantify and control risk while increasing efficiency and automation, including origination and collection scorecards and strategies.
- Design and implement advanced machine learning and statistical models to solve complex business challenges, contributing to feature engineering strategies and staying updated on industry advancements.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts to stakeholders and develop compelling Power BI visualizations to support decision-making.
- Manage the full lifecycle of forecasting models while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee end-to-end modeling processes, including data procurement, model estimation, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and testing.
- Provide insights from models to support business risk management and strategic decision-making.
- Track, analyze, and forecast portfolio performance, providing detailed explanatory analysis and recommendations to senior management.
- Present credit and residual loss trends to executive leadership.
- Develop and enhance advanced reporting solutions, including portfolio reporting, stability reports, and model monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accounting, finance, and treasury.
- Mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- At least 5 years of experience in statistical modeling and quantitative analysis using Python, SAS, R, or similar software.
- Strong experience managing advanced modeling projects and working collaboratively with teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to effectively convey findings across departments and to senior leadership.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proactive problem solver who seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
- Detail-oriented and process-driven with a proven ability to build trust and drive results.
