Data Warehouse Manager
Talento has partnered with an organization that has a global presence on a hands on Manager, DW role. The Data Warehouse Manager is responsible for the sourcing, loading, and optimization of the enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and databases across all systems.
The Data Warehouse Manager will oversee the development and maintenance of all data warehouse production databases, including various data marts, data loading processes, and business intelligence reporting databases in AWS S3 and/or Redshift. Additionally, they will assist internal teams in maintaining operational database systems currently running on Microsoft SQL Server.
This role requires close collaboration with database administrators, technical teams, and business stakeholders to ensure data integrity, performance, and accessibility. The Data Warehouse Manager will also lead technical data quality (DQ) and data stewardship (DS) efforts to ensure accurate, timely, and complete datasets.
Responsibilities
Data Management & Warehouse Development
- Architect, develop, and maintain production databases in collaboration with technical teams.
- Design, develop, and support database objects required for reporting and integrations.
- Develop and manage ETL/ELT processes, ensuring optimized data transformation and integration.
- Perform data modeling, schema creation, and indexing strategies to enhance performance.
- Implement processes to ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency.
- Optimize data warehouse performance, focusing on tuning, scalability, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot errors and performance issues, including production support.
- Collaborate with technical architects, BI/report designers, data stewards, and developers throughout the data lifecycle.
Data Governance & Security
- Develop and implement data governance frameworks to ensure high data quality and consistency.
- Lead efforts in data stewardship to proactively identify and resolve data issues.
- Define and enforce security models to protect data confidentiality and integrity.
- Oversee database maintenance, including backups, performance tuning, and replication.
- Establish and maintain an emergency restoration plan to ensure business continuity.
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Partner with analytics and business intelligence teams to support reporting needs.
- Design and deploy reports and dashboards using Tableau, MicroStrategy, Power BI, and other BI tools.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions.
Project & Team Management
- Manage onshore and offshore resources for ETL processes and BI layer optimization.
- Oversee consultants and third-party vendors, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Drive process improvements and automation to enhance data warehouse efficiency.
Cloud & Infrastructure Management
- Lead cloud-based data initiatives, focusing on AWS infrastructure, including Redshift, S3, and EC2.
- Manage cloud security, access controls, and performance monitoring using CloudWatch.
- Optimize storage, workload management, and data migration processes in Redshift.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in database development and management in a data warehouse environment.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS platforms, including Redshift, S3, and EC2.
- Expertise in SQL, complex queries, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, or Power BI.
- Strong background in database performance tuning, optimization, and security.
