HR Generalist

The HR Generalist will play a key role in ensuring a seamless employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle. This role will manage and support a wide range of human resources functions with a strong focus on compliance, multi-state employment laws, workers' compensation, payroll administration, facilities management, contractor management, auditing, and employee benefits.

What you would be responsible for
Compliance & Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states, including wage and hour laws, leave regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct regular HR audits to ensure accurate records and compliance with company policies and legal standards.
  • Maintain and update employee files and HR systems to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Stay current on evolving employment laws and regulations, advising leadership on necessary policy changes.

Workers' Compensation & Safety:

  • Administer workers' compensation claims, including reporting, tracking, and facilitating communication between employees, managers, and insurance providers.
  • Oversee workplace safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Partner with managers to investigate and resolve workplace incidents and injuries.

Multi-State HR Administration:

  • Manage multi-state employee matters including onboarding, terminations, and compliance with state-specific employment requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures tailored to the needs of each jurisdiction.

Payroll & Contractor Management:

  • Oversee payroll processing for accuracy and compliance, including wage calculations, deductions, and tax filings.
  • Manage and track W2 and 1099 contractor agreements, ensuring proper classification and compliance with IRS guidelines.
  • Partner with finance to ensure payroll audits and reconciliations are completed accurately.

Facilities Management:

  • Coordinate office operations and manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
  • Oversee facility-related concerns, including office moves, maintenance, and compliance with safety standards.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave of absence policies.
  • Act as the primary contact for employee benefit inquiries, supporting open enrollment and ongoing benefits education.
  • Collaborate with external benefits providers to ensure smooth plan administration and compliance.

Employee Relations & Support:

  • Provide HR support to associates and managers, addressing concerns while ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
  • Support performance management processes, including evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture by facilitating employee engagement initiatives and training.

HR Projects

  • Assist with ad hoc HR projects as needed
  • Participate in the review and updating of company policies and procedures as needed, ensuring they align with legal requirements and company goals
  • Collect, compile, and analyze employee data for specific HR reports, audits, or other projects, providing insights to leadership for decision-making
  • Work with other departments on special initiatives as needed

Experience and Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 4–6 years of HR experience, including onboarding, benefits administration, and payroll
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with employees and contractors at all levels.
  • Proven organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Bullhorn ATS preferred
