CPG Space Planning Manager
Remote (US)
Talento has partnered with a fast-growing and innovative CPG company to find a Space Planning Manager who will be responsible for optimizing product placement, category performance and merchandising strategies to drive sales and enhance the customer shopping experience. Involves working with the sales and marketing teams and retailer partners to develop schematics that are aligned with brand shelving objectives and retailer objectives to optimize category performance. Focus will be on analyzing data, developing planograms, collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring effective space utilization to maximize revenue and market share. Will also assist on other category management initiatives as needed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement space planning strategies to optimize category performance while supporting both retailer and company sales objectives and growth plans
- Conduct needs assessments, understand retailer parameters and analyze space utilization data to identify opportunities to improve retail environment
- Provide expertise in utilizing space planning software (JDA/Blue Yonder, Spaceman) and in developing planograms
- Ensure that all product images and dimensions are updated and accurate in the space planning software
- Design and implement planograms, displays and other product placements to enhance product visibility, sales and customer satisfaction
- Manage space planning projects including developing project timelines, budgets and scope as well as coordinate with contractors, vendors and stakeholders
- Partner with retailers and internal sales, marketing and merchandising teams to foster collaboration and to develop category growth strategies
- Monitor industry trends, competitor strategies and consumer shopping behaviors and provide actionable insights and identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships, enhance category growth and secure shelf space
- Develop and present reports on space utilization, project status and key metrics to stakeholders and provide recommendations for future space planning initiatives based on data analysis and industry trends
- Analyze sales trends, customer preferences and competitive performance and leverage insights to refine space planning strategies and stay ahead of market changes
- Monitor KPIs including velocity, days of supply, category/brand growth, market share, household penetration and buy rate and adjust planograms as needed to maximize category success
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, analytics or related field
- 3+ years of relevant experience in CPG space management, category management and insights
- Expertise with space planning software (Blue Yonder/JAD; Spaceman etc.); also managing image libraries
- Strong analytical skills and experience leveraging syndicated data (Nielsen/IRI) data for strategic decision-making; panel and loyalty card platform data analysis a plus
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet critical deadlines
- Strong cross functional collaboration with sales and marketing teams and key customer contacts
- Effective communication skills, attention to detail, initiative and results oriented
- Creative thinker with a strong sense of analytical curiosity
- Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Ability to travel 10-20% time (account/broker/sales meetings and trade shows)
