Cost Accounting Manager
Talento has partnered with a fast-growing CPG company on the search for a Cost Accounting Manager with a strong background in manufacturing and supply chain finance. This role plays a critical part in managing product costing, analyzing manufacturing data, and helping leadership make smart, strategic decisions. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, streamlining processes, and working cross-functionally to drive business success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the monthly close process for manufacturing, making sure all costs are captured accurately and journal entries, reports, and account reconciliations are done on time
- Analyze plant operations costs and prepare monthly reports with insights and trends
- Lead and support monthly operations meetings, sharing key findings with supply chain and leadership teams
- Develop a deep understanding of both manufactured and purchased items to help guide accurate costing and decision-making
- Oversee the annual cost-of-sales budget, and lead the yearly standard cost update
- Create and manage standard product costing, and help review pricing for new product launches
- Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional projects tied to operations and cost management
- Support the annual audit related to inventory, cost of sales, and manufacturing operations by preparing analysis and answering auditor questions
- Help gather data needed for tax filings
- Provide regular commentary and analysis on cost variances vs. budget
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting, ideally in a growing, fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain for both made and bought products
- Advanced skills in financial modeling and analysis
- Experience working closely with senior leadership
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (Oracle ERP is a plus)
- Familiarity with Business Performance Management tools (IBM COGNOS TM1 preferred)
- CPA, CMA, or MBA is a bonus
- Willing to travel within the U.S. a few times per year
