Director of Procurement
Remote w/25% Travel
OVERVIEW:
Talento has partnered with an industry leader in supply chain solutions looking for a Director of Procurement to lead the strategic sourcing, procurement, freight & transportation and recycling materials functions to support organizational goals. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient, cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while aligning procurement strategies with broader business objectives. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with operational excellence, driving supplier performance, cost savings and innovation across the supply chain through effective vendor and cross-functional partnerships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy that integrates sourcing, logistics and recycling material operations in alignment with organizational goals
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, enhance quality, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services
- Drive the transition to ethical and sustainable sourcing practices aligned with corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives
- Establish and manage strategic vendor relationships to promote collaboration, innovation and long-term value
- Lead contract negotiations, terms and agreements to secure competitive pricing while maintaining service and quality standards
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues proactively and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
- Oversee end-to-end procurement operations, ensuring alignment between purchasing, production and logistics functions
- Leverage technology and data analytics to streamline procurement processes and implement best practices, including e-procurement platforms
- Manage procurement budgets, ensure accurate forecasting and drive cost-efficiency across all categories
- Analyze internal spend and identify cost-saving opportunities by maximizing organizational buying power
- Build and lead a high-performing procurement team with clear performance objectives and a focus on continuous improvement
- Coach and develop leaders using a human-centered approach that emphasizes accountability, inclusion and professional growth
- Promote a culture of collaboration, recognition and innovation aligned with organizational values
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required in supply chain management, logistics, business administration or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management, raw material procurement and freight sourcing
- 8+ years in a management role with exceptional leadership skills and a focus on team development, coaching and human-centered leadership
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations and cost optimization across manufacturing, raw materials, logistics and recycling materials categories
- Experience implementing digital procurement tools and process automation
- Skilled in data analysis to identify trends, mitigate risks and drive continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, drive continuous improvement and implement best practices
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Ability to navigate complex, fast-changing market environments with agility and insight
- Excellent analytical, financial, and decision-making skills, with the ability to forecast, manage budgets and assess supplier performance
- Commitment to ethical sourcing, corporate sustainability and aligning with CSR goals
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement/supply chain software; SAP or Oracle experience a plus
- Acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), due to company vehicle usage
- Willingness to travel 25% as needed to operational sites, vendor locations and industry events
