We are seeking an experienced Technical Sourcing Manager to lead strategic sourcing initiatives across complex technical and operational spend categories. This is a highly visible individual contributor role responsible for developing category and sourcing strategies, leading supplier negotiations, managing key supplier relationships, and delivering measurable commercial value across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings deep strategic sourcing and procurement expertise along with experience supporting technical, engineering, industrial, MRO, capital equipment, or similarly complex operational environments. This role requires someone who can move beyond transactional purchasing to evaluate business needs, develop sourcing strategies, negotiate sophisticated agreements, and influence senior stakeholders across a large, matrixed organization.

About the Opportunity

The Technical Sourcing Manager will partner closely with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute sourcing strategies that support operational requirements, cost optimization, supplier performance, and long-term business objectives.

This position will manage sourcing initiatives from strategy development through supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and ongoing supplier relationship management. Success in this role requires strong commercial judgment, analytical capability, and the ability to balance cost, quality, service, risk, and operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing and category strategies for assigned technical and operational spend areas.
• Lead competitive sourcing initiatives, including market analysis, supplier identification, RFP/RFQ processes, supplier evaluation, and selection.
• Lead complex commercial and contract negotiations to achieve competitive pricing, favorable terms, and long-term value.
• Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships while driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with technical, engineering, operational, finance, legal, and other cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and develop effective sourcing solutions.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization, demand management, supplier consolidation, and process improvement.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, commercial proposals, operational risks, and total cost of ownership to support sourcing decisions.
• Monitor market conditions, supplier trends, pricing dynamics, and emerging risks that may impact assigned categories.
• Support supplier performance management through established metrics, business reviews, and improvement initiatives.
• Develop sourcing recommendations and business cases and effectively communicate them to director- and VP-level stakeholders.
• Support broader procurement initiatives related to supplier strategy, sustainability, supplier diversity, and organizational best practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategic sourcing and category strategies.
• Strong experience leading complex supplier and contract negotiations.
• Proven supplier relationship management experience with measurable cost, value, or performance results.
• Experience managing technical or operational spend categories within engineering, industrial, manufacturing, maritime, MRO, energy, transportation, capital equipment, or similarly complex environments.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate pricing, cost structures, supplier proposals, and total cost of ownership.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders in a large, matrixed organization.
• Strong analytical, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline preferred; recognized procurement or supply chain certification may also be considered.
• Experience with sustainability, responsible sourcing, or supplier diversity initiatives is a plus.
