Accountant
TalentoHC has partnered with a manufacturer who is seeking a professional and experienced accountant.This position will be reporting fully on-site in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
The accountant will manage and coordinate accounting functions within the organization. Responsibilities include preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, supporting audit activities, and performing various other accounting tasks as assigned.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain fixed asset records in compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
- Execute transactions to add, adjust, retire, or transfer assets and ensure accurate accounting implications.
- Monitor capital spending, ensure alignment with corporate policies, and oversee approvals for capital expenditure requests.
- Manage budgetary activities, prepare forecasts, and resolve taxation issues.
- Assist in developing the annual operating budget and provide fiscal guidance to departmental management.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and account summaries.
- Conduct revenue projections, profitability analyses, and budget vs. actual reviews.
- Compile and analyze financial data for journal entries and close processes.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, balance sheets, and sub-ledgers (A/R, A/P, and cash).
- Handle month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audit activities.
- Investigate and resolve audit findings and account discrepancies.
- Prepare and file tax reports or collaborate with tax consultants for state and federal compliance.
- Assist with tax calculations, including sales and use tax, tangible property tax, and abandoned property.
- Support the enhancement and implementation of financial systems, tools, and controls.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serve as a backup for cost accounting functions.
- Provide accounting policy training for new staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and tax laws.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency in advanced MS Excel functions, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BSc) is required; CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- 3-5 years of technical accounting experience is essential.
- 2-4 years of audit experience is preferred.
- Experience with general ledger functions is required.
- Manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
