Manager, Risk Advisory and Assurance

Talento has partnered with a global organization seeking an experienced Manager, Risk Advisory and Assurance to join a global team dedicated to delivering independent, objective assurance and advisory services across strategic, operational, financial, technology, and compliance domains. This position plays a key leadership role in conducting and managing comprehensive reviews of critical business processes, ensuring alignment with internal audit standards, and providing insights that drive organizational performance and risk mitigation.
The ideal candidate brings strong audit expertise, leadership acumen, and the ability to communicate complex findings to senior stakeholders, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute end-to-end audits and risk-based reviews of key operations, financial processes, and internal controls with minimal oversight.
- Evaluate the reliability, integrity, and effectiveness of internal controls, including financial reporting, transaction authorization, asset safeguarding, and compliance with policies, regulations, and laws.
- Lead walkthroughs to understand complex and matrixed business processes, identify key risk areas, and design appropriate testing strategies.
- Conduct testing, data analysis, and benchmarking to assess the effectiveness of controls and derive actionable insights.
- Identify root causes and business impact of control deficiencies or process inefficiencies and provide practical, value-added recommendations.
- Draft clear, concise, and insightful audit reports that communicate findings and opportunities for improvement to senior leadership.
- Facilitate meetings and deliver compelling presentations to senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business leaders to develop corrective action plans that support both tactical remediation and long-term strategic improvement.
- Oversee project timelines, milestones, and budgets to ensure efficient and effective execution of audit engagements.
- Perform follow-up procedures to assess implementation of agreed-upon action plans.
- Review the adequacy of internal controls related to any significant improprieties or allegations as assigned.
- Contribute to the development of the annual audit plan based on risk assessments that reflect business priorities and emerging risks.
- Support broader departmental goals, including participation in internal forensic investigations and the Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance program.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) professional standards, as well as internal department methodologies and documentation requirements.
- Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing training, certifications, and industry networking to stay current with best practices and evolving risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in internal audit, risk advisory, or consulting, preferably with a Big 4 firm or within a complex, matrixed organization.
- CPA or CIA certification preferred (or actively pursuing).
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and objectivity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Proven ability to build trust-based relationships while maintaining independence and professional skepticism.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable to dynamic business environments.
- Solid understanding of internal audit methodologies, control frameworks, and risk assessment techniques.
- Demonstrated success managing and executing internal or external audits.
- Up to 25% domestic and international travel, including potential shipboard assignments.
