TalentoHC is actively partnered with an enterprise organization actively seeking a Payroll Manager contractor for 12+ months through Q1 2027.
Seeking a seasoned payroll leader with strong operational, communication, and project management skills. The role involves managing complex, multi-jurisdictional payrolls (shipside and shoreside), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving process improvements in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This hands-on leader will oversee payroll operations, develop and guide team members, manage audits, partner with stakeholders across departments, and deliver accurate, timely payroll services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all payroll operations: processing, compliance, reporting, and SOX adherence.
- Manage payroll forecasting, reporting, and regulatory filings.
- Oversee stock-based compensation processing (RSUs, ESPP).
- Partner with HR, IT, Finance, and other stakeholders to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.
- Drive automation, efficiency, and system optimization.
- Support audits, ensure compliance with federal/state regulations, and monitor legislative changes.
- Build and develop payroll team capabilities, conduct performance reviews, and manage initiatives.
- Deliver high-quality service to employees and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years’ experience in payroll/finance operations required.
Skills & Competencies
- Expertise with PeopleSoft HR-Payroll, ADP systems, and Workday preferred.
- Knowledge of unions, CBAs, and employment contracts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills.
- Proven ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and work independently.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and deliver process improvements.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
- PeopleSoft Payroll/Workforce certifications
