Project Controls Specialist

Talento has partnered with a fast-paced development and construction environment is seeking a technically strong, highly driven, and curious Project Controls Specialist to serve as the central hub for cost, schedule, risk, and change management. This role is responsible for transforming complex project data into clear, actionable insights that guide decision-making and keep large-scale capital programs aligned and on track. The position plays a critical role in establishing structure, improving predictability, and driving performance across multiple workstreams by implementing and optimizing project controls systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain fully integrated cost and schedule baselines, define progress measurement methodologies, and enforce disciplined change control practices
  • Configure and manage project controls platforms, including templates, user roles, permissions, and standardized workflows across RFIs, submittals, cost tracking, and documentation
  • Develop and manage tracking systems for key project phases such as remediation, demolition, entitlements, and handover readiness
  • Provide forward-looking planning and coordination to ensure alignment across all project workstreams
  • Establish and manage budgets, contracts, change events, payment applications, cash flow forecasts, and contingency tracking within project systems
  • Reconcile project data with financial systems to streamline reporting and improve efficiency in financial close processes
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, monitor critical path activities, assess float, identify risks, and implement recovery strategies
  • Maintain a comprehensive risk register and translate risks into measurable cost and schedule impacts
  • Manage all aspects of change control, including logging, evaluating, and resolving change events with full impact analysis and proper documentation
  • Ensure all approvals follow defined workflows with complete traceability
  • Produce regular reporting including cost and schedule performance, key metrics, risk updates, and variance analysis
  • Maintain executive-level dashboards providing real-time visibility into project health
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance through standardized naming conventions, version control, and structured document management
  • Manage system access and permissions in alignment with best practices

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in construction project controls within complex development or capital project environments
  • Hands-on experience with integrated project management or project controls platforms
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrated experience in earned value management (EVM), budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and change control
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders
