Sr Auditor – Full Time
Talento has parterned up with a CPA firm in Chicago, in search of an experienced Audit Senior to join their team. Serving primarily nonprofit clients, with a select number of for-profit engagements, this role is critical in delivering high-quality audit services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation in accounting and auditing, excellent project management skills, and a keen eye for detail. Effective communication with team members and clients is essential. The role offers flexibility with a mostly remote work environment, but periodic visits to client locations in the greater Chicagoland area may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and lead audits of financial statements for nonprofit and for-profit clients.
- Develop and execute audit plans, including identifying and addressing risks.
- Prepare and review audit workpapers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with auditing standards.
- Manage multiple audit engagements, ensuring timely completion within budget.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations to clients and team members.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff members.
- Assist in the development of audit strategies and methodologies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting and auditing standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or progress towards certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in audit or a similar financial role, with a focus on nonprofit organizations preferred.
- Strong technical accounting and auditing skills.
- Excellent project management abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with audit software.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible, remote environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with nonprofit accounting standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with audit software and tools.
- Willingness to periodically visit client locations and the Deerfield, IL office.
- Previous experience in a hybrid work environment.
