Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting – Compensation and Benefits
A leading organization is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting with a focus on Compensation and Benefits to join its finance team. This is a hybrid/in-office role based in Miami, FL. In this position, you will lead the accounting teams responsible for recording, reconciling, and reporting compensation and benefits expenses, general and administrative (G&A) costs, advertising and promotion (A&P) expenses, as well as cash-related transactions. You will also collaborate closely with finance counterparts to ensure the accurate and timely execution of month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and review meetings. The ideal candidate will be passionate about process improvements and maximizing team efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Provide accounting guidance for advertising and promotion, and general and administrative expenses—including accruals, prepaids, and deposits—while fostering collaboration with financial planning and operations teams.
- Oversee the Compensation and Benefits accounting team, offering expertise on both shoreside and shipboard payroll transactions, and benefit-related entries such as medical insurance and protection & indemnity (P&I).
- Manage month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and corporate accounting policies across all relevant processes.
- Support technical accounting matters, address ad hoc inquiries, and contribute to special projects as needed.
- Coordinate with internal audit, risk and assurance teams, corporate affiliates, and external auditors to ensure financial statement accuracy and transparency.
- Provide analytical support for the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles.
- Drive process improvements aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening internal controls.
- Collaborate across departments and levels of management to align goals and drive results.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing accounting team by setting clear objectives, offering continuous feedback, and fostering professional development and succession planning.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public/private accounting (Big 4 experience preferred), financial reporting).
- 4 years minimum in a supervisory role
- Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics to various audiences.
- Solid understanding of GAAP, consolidations, inter/intra-company processes, and internal controls.
- Proficient in analytical thinking with strong business and financial acumen.
- Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and accounting best practices.
