TalentoHC has been retained by a growing airline that is evolving its Technical Operations capabilities to meet the demands of a scaling operation throughout the Americas. The Vice President of Technical Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of aircraft maintenance and repair, ensuring the airline's fleet remains airworthy and operational by managing technical operations, compliance with regulatory standards, and prioritizing safety while optimizing costs and efficiency across maintenance facilities and personnel.
- Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement long-term strategies for technical operations, including fleet maintenance plans, capital expenditure projects, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance aircraft reliability and performance.
- Safety Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to all FAA and regulatory requirements regarding aircraft maintenance, airworthiness directives, and safety protocols, prioritizing safety as the top priority.
- Operational Management:
Oversee daily technical operations, including aircraft maintenance scheduling, repair management, parts inventory control, and ensuring timely turnarounds at maintenance bases.
- Aircraft Inductions
Manage the process of onboarding and offboarding aircraft ensuring airworthiness and effective operations.
- Budgeting and Cost Control:
Manage the technical operations budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards and reliability.
- Personnel Management:
Lead a large team of maintenance technicians, engineers, and management personnel, providing leadership, training, and career development opportunities.
- Collaboration with Other Departments:
Work closely with flight operations, ground operations, engineering, and regulatory authorities to coordinate maintenance activities, address operational issues, and ensure smooth flight schedules.
- Performance Monitoring:
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to aircraft reliability, maintenance turnaround times, and compliance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Incident Management:
Investigate aircraft maintenance issues, accidents, or incidents promptly and effectively, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Technology Implementation:
Evaluate and implement new maintenance technologies, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and streamline processes.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong technical acumen managing a fleet of Airbus A320 or similar aircraft.
- Extensive experience in aviation maintenance and engineering, preferably at a senior leadership level within an airline.
- Deep understanding of FAA regulations, airworthiness directives, and maintenance best practices.
- Proven leadership skills to manage large teams, build consensus, and motivate employees.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address technical challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders
- A strong safety culture mindset with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aircraft reliability
